True historical story of Hero Archer Nasu No Yoichi during 1180
end of Heian Period. He was born in
Nasu, Kurobane no Sato, Tochigi Prefecture in Japan. He was a Lord
of Nasu, district of Tochigi, under
the powerful Genji Clan – Minamoto Yoshitsune. He was famous
for killing the Monster lived in the
mountain of Nasu with the special archer KABURAYA given by the
Tomomori Taira who were passing
through the village as a pilgrim. Later the Heike and Genji met
in the Battle of Yashima known as “Dan
no Ura no Tatakai”. At the Battle of Yashima, Genji Military
Force destroyed the Heike Clan, and
Family of Tomomori Taira was fled to Hiuga (current Miyazaki Prefecture)
Kyuushuu Island. Powerful
leaderof Genji Clan, Minamoto Yoritomo ordered Yoichi and his young
brother Daihachiro to kill
Tomomori Taira and his remaining forces in Hiuga, Kyushuu. With
great sorrow and hesitation both
Yoichi and Daihachiro departed for Kyuushu. Yoichi was saved by
Tomomori Taira when Yoichi was
having difficult time killing the Monster in the Nasu, Tochigi.
Remembering Tomomori’s kindness,
Yoichi asked Tomomori to surrender. Tomomori agreed to surrender
under the one condition in asking
Yoichi and Daihachiro to look after his only daughter TSURUTOMI
HIME (Princess Tsurutomi). Both
Yoichi and Daihachiro promised Tomomori that they will take care
of her as long as they live.
Tomomori committed suicide immediately after he saw that both Yoichi
and Daihachiro will take care
of his daughter. But Yoichi decided to become Priest and left on
the long journey praying for the
deceased spirits of soldiers who dies at the Battle of Genji and
Heike. Daihachiro, young brother of
Yoichi, lived very peacefully, and happily with Trurutomi Hime
